Working In Expanded States of Consciousness
Join us for a four-day immersive breathwork retreat designed to move beyond insight and into real, embodied transformation. Through powerful, music-guided sessions, you’ll have the opportunity to release what’s been held, reconnect with your inner healing intelligence, and experience meaningful shifts at the level of the body, nervous system, and subconscious, all within a deeply supported group container.
Expand your awareness and explore your system’s innate capacity for integration, release, and lasting change.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker Brenda Lee Gauthier and Licensed Professional Counselor Rebecca Pollard, along with their trauma-informed support team, will hold this intentional, grounded space for profound inner work and integration.
Psychedelic States. Different Doorway.
People seek psychedelic experiences for a reason.
The dissolution of ordinary filters. Access to deeper material. The sense that patterns long stuck can finally transform.
Breathwork can take you on such a journey.
The journey doesn’t begin by ingesting a substance, but working with your own physiology. Breathing in specific rhythms alters your body chemistry. Ordinary patterns in the mind soften and deeper layers of the psyche rise to the surface.
And because the process relies entirely on your body and your breath, it builds gradually, it responds in real time, and it ends the moment you feel ready to be done.
You have full agency the whole time.
Why Some Change Requires a Different State
Ordinary thinking works for insight, reflection, and understanding.
But many of the patterns that keep us stuck were not created through logic alone, so they rarely dissolve through logic alone.
Instead they live in the nervous system. In emotional memory. In the body’s protective responses. In deeply conditioned ways of relating to self and others.
In expanded states of consciousness, these usual patterns soften.
What once felt unreachable can become accessible. What felt overwhelming can become workable. The body can complete responses interrupted long ago. New perspectives arise naturally.
You are no longer trapped inside the pattern in the same way.
From there, profound changes can arise. And endure.
The Conditions That Make Depth Possible
Breathwork is powerful. But technique alone is not enough.
To go deep, the nervous system needs the right conditions. The felt sense of being held. Careful preparation. Clear guidance. Skilled facilitation. Music that supports the arc of the journey. An environment that allows the body to release vigilance.
The experience is shaped not only by the breath, but by everything surrounding it. That is why set and setting matter.
The land. The pace. The people in the room. The quality of attention. The trust you feel.
When these elements come together, your system can move beyond its usual limits.
We have spent years learning how to cultivate those conditions.
This is more than a technique… It is a carefully built container in which transformation becomes possible.
The Breathwork Journey
No two sessions are alike.
The process unfolds from deep within us, guided by our breath and carried by the music, directed by our own system’s intelligence.
This is the Inner Healer, the innate intelligence within each of us that knows the path toward healing and wholeness.
Carefully curated, soul-stirring music creates the landscape for the journey, supporting phases of activation, emotional and somatic release, expansion, and eventually a gentle settling into integration.
For some, the experience comes through emotion. For others, physical sensation, imagery, memory, insight, clarity, or moments that feel deeply meaningful and difficult to explain.
We are not forcing healing. We are holding space for your Inner Healer to take the lead.
What We Have Witnessed
What we have witnessed, again and again…
People moving through and beyond grief carried for decades.
Stress responses completing after being held in the body for years.
Chronic tension and pain patterns releasing in ways that surprised even the people carrying them.
Voices that had gone quiet finding expression again.
Reconnections with memories, relationships, or parts of self long out of reach.
And just as often, something quieter.
A person discovering their own capacity. To feel what they had been avoiding. To stay with it. To move through it. A body braced for years finally letting go. The first full belly laugh in a very long time.
Who This Is For
This work is for people who are wanting to go deeper.
You may have already invested in your healing and growth, yet still feel like something deep inside is not fully aligned with how you are living. You understand your patterns. But understanding no longer feels like enough.
This retreat tends to resonate if:
You’ve grown significantly, yet something still feels unresolved
You’re ready to feel, not just understand
You want movement, not more analysis
You’re curious about non-ordinary states and what they can reveal
You’re willing to meet discomfort without immediately trying to escape it
You sense there is more available than you’ve been able to access so far
This experience asks something of you. Not perfection. Not certainty. Not having everything figured out.
Only a genuine willingness to be present and let the process unfold on its own terms.
Who This Is Not For
This is not a retreat for relaxation, escape, or passive restoration.
It is also not a good fit if you are currently in acute psychological crisis, experiencing psychosis, pregnant, or working with an unmanaged heart condition.
If you’re unsure whether this is the right fit, we’re happy to have a conversation before you register.
What You Leave With
Because this process is so individualized, it’s impossible to promise a specific outcome.
What we can promise is this: something will shift.
People often leave with:
Emotional material that has begun to release and integrate
A sense of completion around experiences that never fully processed
New perspectives on long-held beliefs or stories
A deeper trust in their own system
A noticeable shift in how the body holds stress or tension
A renewed sense of direction or purpose
Most people leave feeling different.
Lighter. Clearer. More connected.
Many also leave with something quieter and just as important.
Less urgency to fix or control what they feel.
More capacity to stay present as something moves through.
That quieter shift is often the deepest one.
Not everything resolves in a weekend. But the process often continues unfolding long after you leave.

We chose Lotus Ranch deliberately. It is private, quiet, and genuinely away from the pace of daily life, not just in miles but in atmosphere. When you arrive, something shifts before the breathwork even begins.
Accommodations are simple, clean, and communal. This is not a luxury spa. It is a sanctuary, comfortable and nourishing, oriented entirely toward the inner process you came here for.

Meet Your Guides
Two humans who happen to be therapists.
This is not a clinical setting and this retreat is not therapy. But it is held by people with the clinical depth to support whatever arises.
We do not show up to this work as clinicians in a clinical setting. We show up as people who have done this work ourselves, who have been changed by it, and who are genuinely honored to facilitate this process for others.
Our training informs the integrity of the container. Our humanity is what fills it.

I came to breathwork not as a practitioner, but as someone who needed it. I was searching for relief from something talking alone could not reach. The first time I breathed, something shifted that had never shifted before. That experience changed the course of my life.
Long before I became a therapist, I completed a three-year certification in Integrative Breathwork rooted in the Stanislav Grof tradition, including immersive retreats devoted to deep personal work and facilitation. I have now facilitated breathwork for more than twenty years.
I now bring that depth alongside my therapeutic work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and yoga teacher.
I do not see myself as the expert on anyone else’s healing. I believe each of us carries an Inner Healer, an innate intelligence already moving toward wholeness. My role is to help create the conditions where that intelligence can do what it already knows how to do.
Rebecca and I found each other through somatic training, recognized the same orientation toward this work, and have been deepening this collaboration ever since. I appreciate that her belief in this work rivals my own.
Of all the ways I have supported people, it is in expanded states of consciousness where I have witnessed the most profound change. That is why I continue to return to this work, and why I feel honored to guide others who are ready to go beyond the ordinary.

In my fifteen years as a psychotherapist in private practice, I have witnessed how trauma, loss, and crisis can deconstruct a person, and how, with the right support, those same experiences can lead to a profound rebuilding. I am deeply called to this work because I believe that collective healing and the movement toward a more conscious world happens breath by breath, individual by individual. My practice is rooted in the conviction that the body holds both the wound and the way. It is not just a vessel for our experiences, but the very intelligence required for our transformation.
My approach is built on three decades of somatic study. I have practiced, studied and taught pranayama within the Iyengar and Kundalini lineages for over thirty years and maintain a daily breathwork practice to support my own well-being. As a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner with advanced training in Integral Somatic Psychology, EMDR, and more recently Accelerated Resolution Therapy, I seek to bridge the gap between nervous system capacity and expanded states of consciousness to support post-traumatic growth in a relational context.
For the past four years, I have been honored to practice and study psychedelic breathwork alongside my dear friend and colleague, Brenda Gauthier, as we continue to explore the boundaries of what is possible when we let the body and mind lead. Ultimately, I view my role as a guardian of the container, safeguarding the felt sense of safety and connection within the group and within each individual participant.
